Diva Review
"Beyond the abundant individual talents of Judi Connelli, Suzanne Johnston and Jenifer McGregor, this product is about the chemistry between them, and the degree to which their individual talents blossom within the trio context rather than being smothered by it.
The album is a mostly wonderful document of the current repertoire: a seamless blend of opera and musicals, of giggles and lumps in the throat,of precision and panache. The recording quality glistens, and highlights abound: a shrewdly structured Gershwin medley; Connelli shredded with doubts on Terrific Band And A Real Nice Crowd; McGregor's sparkling voice on Glitter And Be Gay; she and Johnston transporting the listner on Offenbach's exquisite Barcarolle; and the razor edge Connelli and McGregor impart to A Boy Like That. Less sucessful is Connelli's heavy reading of Softly Awakes My Heart, while Johnston battles bravely with the ordinary Someone Like You.
